Tubing through Belize's unique underground cave system is the must-do tour in Belize.
Our small group departures can often avoid the massive large bus groups that can add to the wait times and subtract from the enjoyment. After meeting your Belize guide, you will walk to your air-conditioned transportation for the approximate one-hour and 20 minutes drive to the Caves Branch River and its winding path through the Mayan Mountains and numerous ancient caves.
After picking up your tube, life jackets, helmets and headlamps you will walk down to the adjacent river. This will also be the spot where you finish your float. You will start the adventure by wading across the river, holding onto a rope strung across the water. From here, you will set out on a 25 to 30-minute walk along a jungle trail over loose gravel. Guests must be in good shape and able to keep up with the guide on this Belize excursion.
At the entrance of the underground cave system, your guide will brief you on the cave system, rules and safety measures before you enter the water. You will float along on the gentle current that will take you through the cave system. Intricate crystalline formations line the cave, and the majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and stalactites add to the serene opulence of nature. The float part of the adventure lasts approximately one hour, depending on the current, and brings you back to the starting location of your Belize excursion.
After the float, you head back to hand in your gears and then get dried up. A dry change of clothes and a dry towel per person is recommended. There are changing rooms at the park. After we get ourselves together we walk back up to the transportation for the drive to Belize City.
Following your tubing adventure, you will head over to a local restaurant at the park where you can purchase a delicious homemade lunch of typical Belizean food, such as stewed chicken, rice, and beans and fried plantain (if time permits). Lunch at the restaurant is optional and is not included in the price of the tour.
Please Note: As the river bottom is rocky, you must wear shoes (sneakers or water shoes) while tubing, and they will get wet. Do not forget a towel and dry shoes for after the tour. Guests with special dietary requirements may need to bring a snack or power bar, as tour duration is five hours. Guests must be a minimum 40" in height. Tour times listed are in local time.
We recommend wearing comfortable, seasonal clothing over a swimsuit and closed-toe walking shoes or sandals with straps that can get wet. Water shoes are available for rent once at the cave park. Guests should bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellent as well as a beach towel hotel. Chilled bottle water provided.
Guests must be a minimum of 40 inches tall. The maximum waist size that can be accommodated is 48 inches at the zip line, as long as you can fit securely into the harness you will be able to do the zip line. Guests must be in good shape and able to walk over loose gravel for approximately 30 minutes, and wade across the river, which has a rock bottom. Guests with neck, back, or hip ailments, and pregnant women should not participate on this tour. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
